About this component

Runs the game code from the cartridge, with 64 KB of work RAM and the VDP inside the 315-5660 ASIC. The HC000 is the CMOS version of the 68000 and is a drop-in for the original NMOS part; FN means the PLCC-68 package and the 8 means it's rated for 8 MHz, run here at about 7.6 MHz. A missing clock, a stuck address/data line from a failed RAM, or a bad cartridge slot can all make a working CPU look dead, so check those first. The pin table here is for the PLCC-68 package only — Model 1 boards up to VA6 use the DIP-64 version, which has a different pinout.
